You were born on a cold October day
You were so beautiful and healthy
As they put you in my arms
It took my breath away

As I sat and watched you grow
As you learned to walk, talk, and play
The things you did so new to you
It took my breath away

As you grew into a fine young man
With those amazing eyes of blue
Those perfect teeth
That smile that lit the darkest days
It took my breath away

As I looked through the pictures of your life
I see the goodness that God gave you
To share with all that knew you

The time came and God called you home
The doctors told me you were gone
I know its true, I know its real
It took my breath away

So I am here without you
I live with my memories of you
When I think of God giving me you
It took my breath away

I know we will be together again
That is Gods promise to me, and mine to you
As I sat and dreamed of that
It took my breath away

Seasons Of Grief©

 

Fall

We that are in the fall of our grief
It is crisp, like the autumn wind
We watch grief fall upon us
Like the autumn leaves that fall to the ground
Our days grow longer
We experience the pain of loss

Winter

We that are in the winter of our grief
It is cold, and dark, and bleak
We wonder if we will ever feel warm again
Our days are short, and nights, lonely and long
We pray for warmth again

Spring

We that are in the spring of our grief
Our days grow brighter, and warm
We are amazed at the renewal of our souls
Our faith is like the new buds, and spring flowers
It waits to explode forth
To bring new color into our souls

Summer

We that are in the summer of our grief
We look in wonder at our renewal
It's like the new green grass
The leaves upon the trees
The sun shines down upon us
It brings warmth to our souls
We are splashed in glorious warmth
Our hope is restored
