As we give thanks this Remembrance Day,
We are drawn to battlefields so far away,
Back to a time of armaments flying,
Back to the suffering of the wounded and dying.
O the conflicts of men and governments hashing,
Disputes over land and of cultures clashing,
Loss of the innocents, bystanders of history,
Forever doomed to be lost, in shrouded mystery.
It is for us who survive our fateful past,
To always remember, to make memories last.
Ponder the reasons, not repeat the mistakes,
It is our duty, a safe world to make.
As the petals drop on Remembrance Day,
The poppy a symbol of the sacrifice made.
Lest we forget, what our fellow man gave.
In Flanders Fields, we remember the brave,
